Homecoming 2011
Homecoming 2011 has been set for the weekend of October 14-15 as the Tigers will be playing host to the Iowa State Cyclones. Please join us for one, many, or all of the following events: TWENTY-SECOND ANNUAL BUCK JACKSON MEMORIAL ALUMNI BAND GOLF OUTING Friday, October 14,
2011 The golf tournament will be held at the L.A. Nickell golf course in Columbia. The format for this year will be just as it was in the past. There will be two-person teams with part of the tournament being a scramble, part being best ball and part being alternate shot. This will keep the game moving with the level of amateur golfers we have. Tee-off should begin around 9:15am, so be there early to pay your greens fees and warm up a little. We must have your RSVP for your registration postmarked by Thursday, October 6 or e-mailed by Wednesday, October 12 for planning purposes. As usual, we will have acknowledgments for winners, and special recognition for talents such as longest drive, longest putt etc. Non-golfers (caddies) are welcome to come out and enjoy the prodigious displays of golfing talent. CHARTING PARTY / RALLY NIGHT Friday, October 14,
2011 The annual charting party will be held at Harpos on the corner of 10th and Cherry streets in downtown Columbia. This is where well further reminisce, meet up with folks who werent able to make it in earlier in the day and prepare ourselves for RALLY NIGHT. Rally night will start at approximately 10:00 pm at Harpos and gradually make its way through downtown to wind up at Deja Vu. Feel free to bring your horn and join the Missouri Band Bunch for this really fun tradition.. GAME DAY Saturday, October
15, 2011 As you may know, television coverage may again change the time when the Homecoming game is played. Please use the table below for the schedule of events. Game time should be set 7 to 10 days before Homecoming. POTENTIAL SCHEDULES
PARKING Parking
will be tight because of the nearly sold-out status of this game. You are encouraged
to park at the Old Alumni Center (A.L. Gustin Golf Course) located west of Faurot
Field off of Stadium Boulevard. This is also the location of our Post Game Tailgate.
There will be a SMALL section roped off for our use free of charge. Anyone can park
here, so plan on arriving early for easy, free parking. REGISTRATION Demand for tickets is high this year. This game will likely sell out. Preregistering is the only way you will be guaranteed a ticket for the game. Take the time to register on the web at www.m2ab.org or using the registration form in the newsletter. You can pay with a credit card securely over the web via PayPal. Registration will begin according to the above schedule and will be held in the Hearnes Center East concourse unless the game is scheduled after 2:30, in which case it will be held in conjunction with the business meeting at the Old Alumni Center. For those of you who preregister, simply pick up your name tag, music, football tickets, and your Alumni Band T-shirts. Non-preregistered people will need to register and pay appropriate fees that day. A walkup registration fee of $5 will be assessed to each member who registers after online registration closes on October 12. Limited numbers of large instruments (ONLY sousaphones, baritones, mellophones, drums) and flags will be available to borrow that day. You will need to bring your own mouthpiece or drum sticks if using a University Instrument. REHEARSAL / LUNCH Rehearsal will be at the M2 band field that is located on the southeast side of the Hearnes Center. As a reminder, alcoholic beverages will not be permitted during rehearsal and children will NOT be allowed on the field during our performance at the stadium. After rehearsal, we will take a brief meal break and then its on to the stadium. We will again be having Jacks Gourmet cater the meals for those that would like them after practice. For $7.00 you get a sandwich (turkey, ham, beef, or veggie), apple, chips, and a cookie. Beverages will not be provided. MAA members get a $1 discount on meals. Please indicate on your preregistration form how many and what type of sandwich(es) you desire and please include payment with your Homecoming activity fees. Only those people who register and prepay by the deadlines will be able to buy the box meals. Any extra lunches on game day will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis at $7. POST GAME TAILGATE Our annual meeting and tailgate will be held at the time indicated in the chart above. This year we will hold the Post Game Tailgate and business meeting at the Old Alumni Center located next to A.L. Gustin Golf Course. This meeting is an important event for us as we will discuss our financial status and elect officers and directors. This year we will be offering a full buffet along with a cash bar for your enjoyment. The meal is free to you as funded in part by our affiliation with MAA and your activity fee. We will also be watching our performance from that day. Plan to attend along with your family for this important function of the Marching Mizzou Alumni Band. TICKETS For those who are marching, you may purchase two tickets at $25 each and up to 4 additional tickets at $55 each. We can only guarantee these additional tickets to people who preregister and prepay. Walk-ups MAY be able to purchase tickets, but we must emphasize that we can only guarantee seating for people who preregister. MUSIC If you would like to receive a copy of the music before Homecoming, contact Hadley Haux by phone at (314) 521-8593. |
