Mizzou Homecoming 2014

Homecoming 2014 has been set for the weekend of October 24-25 as the Tigers will be playing host to the Commodores from Vanderbilt. Please join us for one, many, or all of the following events:

Friday, October 24, 2014
6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Our new Friday night event is back on the agenda this year. If you are old enough to remember charting parties, or the Pickardnic, an informal, Friday-night get-together has returned! We are going to get together a little earlier, giving everyone an opportunity to mingle in a relaxed family atmosphere. This is a time to catch up with other alumni back in town for the weekend without wondering when Gary or Bruce is going to blow a whistle and interrupt you to get back in your spot.
The get-together will be at Shakespeare's Pizza's new South Location (3911 Peachtree Drive,on the west side of Providence Road on the south side of Nifong Boulevard).
The room has AV equipment so we can show old video and pictures, and bar service, if you'd like. It has an outside patio and lots of parking. We welcome photo contributions for a looping slide show; please email them to April at by October 10.
And if your Tiger Spirit moves you, you can do your best to see if you can find the Band Bunch at Rally Night afterwards.

As you may know, television coverage may again change the time when the Homecoming game is played. Added uncertainty comes as we adjust to SEC television schedules. Please use the table below for the schedule of events. Game time should be set 7 to 10 days before Homecoming. And once kickoff is set, we'll have a definite shcedule on the home page.

Parking will be tight because of the nearly sold-out status of this game. You are encouraged to park at the Old Alumni Center (A.L. Gustin Golf Course) located west of Faurot Field off of Stadium Boulevard. This is also the location of our Post Game Tailgate. There will be a SMALL section roped off for our use free of charge. Anyone can park here, so plan on arriving early for easy, free parking.

All parking on the east side of the Hearnes Center is reserved for people who donated to the Tiger Scholarship Fund. There are spaces available to park around the stadium and on campus. The closest are Maryland Avenue Garage across from the north side of the stadium. It isn't free, but it's close.

For those who are marching, you may purchase two tickets at $30 each and up to 4 additional tickets at $45 each. We can only guarantee these additional tickets to people who pre-register and prepay. We will return most unsold tickets to the athletic department about 10 days before the game.

Demand for tickets is high this year. This game will likely sell out. Pre-registering is the only way you will be guaranteed a ticket for the game. Take the time to register on the web at New this year, we will be doing all registrations via the web, or walk up. Mail in registration forms will not be accepted, except in special cases. You can pay with a credit card securely over the web via PayPal although we lose a small percentage to PayPal Fees. You may also mail a check payable to M2 Alumni Band to Andy Kendig, 206 Spring Brook Ct, Chesterfield, MO. Payment must be postmarked by October 10 or your registration will be cancelled. Registration will begin according to the above schedule and will be held on the practice filed for earlier game times and at the Old Alumni center for later game times, in which case, it will be in conjunction with the business meeting at the Old Alumni Center. For those who pre-register, simply pick up your nametag, football tickets, and Alumni Band T-shirt. If you do not pre-register, you will need to sign up and pay appropriate fees that day. A walk up registration fee of $5 is assessed to each member who registers after online registration closes on October 10. Limited numbers of large instruments (ONLY sousaphones, baritones, mellophones, drums) and flags will be available to borrow that day. You will need to bring your own mouthpiece or drumsticks if using a University instrument.

Rehearsal will be at the M2 band field that is located on the southeast side of the Hearnes Center. As a reminder, alcoholic beverages will not be permitted during rehearsal and children will NOT be allowed on the field during our performance at the stadium. After rehearsal, we will take a brief meal break and then it’s on to the stadium.

We will again have Jack's Gourmet cater box meals for those who would like them after practice. For $7.00, you get a sandwich (turkey, ham, beef, or veggie), apple, chips, and a cookie. Water is provided. MAA members get a $1 discount on box meals. Please indicate on your registration form how many and what type of sandwich(es) you desire and include payment with your homecoming activity fees. Only those people who register and prepay by the deadlines will be able to buy the box meals. Any extra lunches on game day will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis at $7.00

One of our greatest additions to the Homecoming experience is our rental truck. The truck will be available as a place you can store your instrument cases and small personal items at the start of rehearsal so that they will be available near the stadium after our pregame performance.
The truck will be secured throughout the game as well, giving your instrument a safe home until the end of the game. University-owned instruments will also be returned here after pregame.
Major thanks to the Geerlings family for their assistance with this service.

We hvave our official business meeting and elections at the Old Alumni Center next to A.L. Gustin Golf Course. This meeting also offers a nice pregame or postgame (depending on our schedule) meal, cash bar, and reception and is our primary time to see old friends, make new ones– in addition to conducting the formal business. The meal is free to you as funded in part by our affiliation with the Mizzou Alumni Association (MAA) and your activity fees. Plan to attend along with your family for this fun and important function.

All music will be e-mailed to all registrants in advance of Homecoming. If you would like to receive a copy of the music earlier, contact Hadley Haux by phone at (314) 521-8593.
